Teeth Whitening

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think.  Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure.

Dental bleaching can be used to correct tooth discoloration caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth.  Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile.  In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

Professional whitening is easy and effective

It’s safe, quick, and affordable.  Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth.  You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile.

There are two ways you can professionally whiten your teeth–in our office or at home.  In the course of an hour appointment, we carefully administer several applications of high-concentration whitening gel to achieve immediately lighter teeth.  With the at-home option, we take an impression of your teeth and make custom trays that are used to hold whitening gel against your teeth when it’s convenient for you.  We provide you with a lower concentration of whitening gel that you use daily for a week or two for initial whitening and then occasionally to maintain a bright smile.

What about over-the-counter products?

Key Benefits of Teeth Whitening

  • Corrects brown, yellow and spotted tooth staining
  • Works on people of any age
  • Is a near-permanent solution for a “dull” smile, restoring brightness and brings a smile alive

Numerous over-the-counter bleaching agents are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies.  While many of these products can help you brighten your smile, they contain much lower concentrations of bleaching agents compared to those available at our office.  Because they have weaker ingredients, over-the-counter results tend not to be as dramatic or long lasting. Other over-the-counter whitening systems use stronger bleaching agents with a one-size-fits all tray.  With these systems, we have seen that the ill-fitting tray allows bleaching agents to come in contact with the gums, causing irritation and mild burns to this delicate tissue. Custom trays made in our office can alleviate this risk.
